Press Release
The Bloody Sunday Enquiry- 12 Polycom
Viewstations deployed in the world's largest
video judicial investigation

24th September 2002

Internet Videocommunications designs, builds and commissions the video evidence distribution infrastructure critical to the Bloody Sunday Inquiry, the most high profile Government Inquiry of recent times.

"The technology they are providing for the Inquiry is quite a remarkable demonstration of what can be done with IT and we are finding it of invaluable assistance."RT Hon Lord Saville of Newdigate, Inquiry Chairman. *

The Bloody Sunday Inquiry set uniquely challenging technical issues for the live distribution of video evidence; witnesses, virtual reality and documents. The enormous complexity of the project, coupled with the high sensitivity of the Inquiry, demanded technical expertise and service support that only a premier level video integration company could deliver.

Award-winning solution.

Internet Videocommunications, a leading supplier of conferencing solutions, designed and delivered a pioneering video system for the Inquiry's first implementation in April 2000 at Londonderry’s Guildhall. Evidence is distributed to some 100 plasma, projection and LCD screens. Bespoke software that determines the extent of viewing of the sensitive evidence is a crucial element in the smooth running of the Inquiry.
This unique application of video distribution won the prestigious Law Society's SCL IT Award for the most outstanding application of information technology.

Following the decision to extend the Bloody Sunday Inquiry to a second location in London, Internet Videocommunications has recreated its award-winning evidence distribution system at the Central Hall, Westminster. The system provides for live transmission between London and Derry. In total twelve state-of-the-art Polycom Codecs and nearly two hundred plasma and LCD screens have been deployed in both locations. The high quality of the evidence transmission between both locations enables interested parties to view the Inquiry without the need or expense of travelling.

Internet Videocommunications' professionalism, reliability and unrivalled technical and service excellence delivers a seamless transition to the second phase of the Inquiry.
